The final four was created after the results of the crossover games last night. The four going into the semi-finals are USA, Canada, Brazil, and Mexico.
USA beat Columbia 79-30. Leading scorers for the USA team were Counts with 14pts, Bell with 11pts, and Lade with 10pts. USA will face Mexico in today at 10pm EST. Mexico has a couple key players that USA will facing. One is Raul Ortega who is a veteran player for the Mexican National team and one of the best players in Mexico. Paul played with Raul on the Dallas Wheelchair Maverick team so Paul knows how quiet and deadly Raul can be. The other is a newer player for Mexico, Salvador Zavala. Both players have been the leading scorers for Mexico and will be the ones to watch out for.
Canada beat Jamaica 71 to 27 without two of their key players, Pat Anderson and Adam Lancia. Adam will return for the next game but Pat will sit out the rest of the tournament. Canada faces Brazil in the semi-final game at 8pm EST.
The top four teams are fighting for the top three qualifying spots to be able to go to the World Championships, May 2010.
USA won a great game against Brazil last night. Paul even said "We won a very testing game against Brazil tonight. ''Give Up'' is definitely not a Portugese phrase. Towards the end they played very physical and were bombin 3s"
They play Columbia in the crossover game tonight at 10pm EST. A win in this game will send them to the semi-finals and then a chance to play for gold.
Canada is the top team in the other pool and will be playing Jamaica tonight in the crossovers. Pat Anderson has been playing with the Canadian national team through the pool play, but it looks like he will be taking a break and letting some of the other teammates take the team to the gold medal game.
USA Men's team won their second game yesterday against Jamaica 106 to 25. Paul led the team in scoring with 21pts. Nate Hinze had a big game as well scoring 17pts and shooting 8 for 8 from the field. They face Brazil tonight which will be their toughest opponent in their pool.
