Today saw some very exciting games including an aggressive first half from France against Australia and an overtime thriller between Italy and Poland.
Australia and Italy came away the victors, but Poland and France proved to be teams you have to be careful with. As for the USA, we defeated Korea 92-67. Early scoring by Steve Serio and Jeremy Lade pushed the US to a small lead. Sharp shooter Jason Nelms came into the game and hit a 15 footer in his first possession. He then went on to hit 5 3-pointers and lead the team in scoring.
The US squares off against Poland tomorrow (Fri July 9) at 2:15 Birmingham time.
87-43 GB defeats Korea
First day of action was a brief one featuring a convincing victory for Great Britain over Korea 87-43.
Opening ceremony was very nice and included words from the Mayor of Birmingham and the President of the IWBF.
Tomorrow (Thur July 8) is our first game against Korea. Korea is a fast shooting aggressive defensive team who got off to a rough start against GB.
We'll anticipate them to have a better showing against us.
Here we go!
